The 5th Annual SouthCoast Women’s Forum sponsored by Eastern Bank took place on Tuesday, April 24th from 11:00am to 3:30pm at Rachel’s Lakeside, 950 State Road in Dartmouth. Enhancements to this year’s program included new hours and the addition of a luncheon. The Women’s Forum continued to feature workshops and the popular table-top expo designed to promote women-owned and operated businesses.
Our keynote speaker was Shannon O’Brien, President and CEO of the Girl Scouts Patriots’ Council. O’Brien is the first woman to have ever held the position of Treasurer for the state of Massachusetts. Creating the Money Conference for Women provided financial education seminars to over 8,000 women. In 2002, Shannon was the first woman in the history of Massachusetts to be nominated by a major party for governor. She has worked as a health care executive, taught at Boston University School of Communications, and immediately before joining the Girl Scouts was an investigative and consumer reporter for WB56 Ten O’Clock News.
The cost to exhibit is $195 for members and $275 for non-members and included one reservation for the luncheon.
