NEW BEDFORD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

 
 

Strategically located in the center of the scenic SouthCoast of Massachusetts, New Bedford's recognition as a leader and center of commerce dates back to the whaling and industrial eras. The port of New Bedford's commercial fishing fleet consistently tops the industry in value of product landed. Textile and manufacturing businesses continue to produce quality products through the use of innovative technologies. The economy of New Bedford has diversified in recent years to include industries related to marine science technology, health care, medical devices, services and transportation.


New Bedford Economic Development Council (NBEDC) was formed as a "one stop" approach to economic development in New Bedford. The NBEDC works with businesses located in or locating to, the city by:


- Maintaining a real estate database listing commercial property available for lease, sale or development.
- Structuring financial assistance and tax incentive packages.
- Facilitating introductions to other Federal, State and local support agencies.
- Providing technical assistance for product development.
